Project Overview
IFI was appointed to support Southampton City Council with the digital recording and inspection of fire doorsets across its estate.
The project involved recording fire doorsets digitally, creating a structured asset record and inspecting doorsets in line with relevant fire safety duties and the expectations introduced by the Building Safety Act.
The appointment supported the Council in improving its understanding of fire doorset condition, defect management, remedial planning and ongoing building safety record keeping.
Scope of Services
IFI’s role included:
- Digital recording of fire doorsets across the estate
- Creation of structured doorset asset records
- Fire doorset inspections
- Recording of door locations, condition and key components
- Inspection of doors, frames, seals, gaps, hinges, closers, glazing and ironmongery
- Identification of defects and remedial requirements
- Photographic evidence capture
- Digital reporting to support asset management and remedial planning
- Support with Building Safety Act record-keeping expectations
- Assistance with prioritisation of remedial works
Project Outcome
IFI provided Southampton City Council with a structured digital record of fire doorsets across the estate, together with inspection findings and defect information to support ongoing fire safety management, remedial planning and building safety compliance.
